I like mechanical pencils, the one where plop it out from the front and shove it into the back. Hate lead pencils-they break the minute I begin to write because of the pressure I use. Actually I dont like pencils at all.
Ever considered using a ball-pen? Marks it leaves are persisting and consistent. Also, when its over, all you need to do is a refill. Simble. No dirty sharpening business or painful mechanical clicks .

Sharpening the heartwood pencils and feeling the tip. Sharpening carefully so that the shavings make a near circle. Collecting them.
I can smell it all.
